Volunteers - "Support through Sharing"
Volunteers are an important part of LABIS who work to enrich the lives of all the participants socially, physically, and emotionally. We have 121 volunteers at present.
These volunteers assist with:
- Life Enrichment Program
- Support Groups
- Fund Raisers
- Board Involvement
- Advocates for Persons with an Acquired Brain Injury

Volunteers are required to:
- Be Cheerful - A smile is worth a thousand words
- Be Accepting - No-one is perfect
- Be Patient - It's a virtue
- Be Willing - To use your sense of humour
- Be Yourself - And contribute your ideas
- Be Dependable - Let us know if you are unable to attend
- Obtain a Criminal Record Check, to be reimbursed by LABIS
Being a Volunteer includes:

Orientation to the Program, participants, and facility prior to placement. - Access to any available published material on working with the cognitively or physically impaired

In 2010, 121 volunteers gave LABIS the gift of their time, totalling 1982.9 hours.

Membership
Individuals can purchase memberships for $10.00, or a family package is available for $20.00. With a membership you will receive a copy of our newsletters and letters notifying you of coming events. LABIS members are also entitled to make motions at the Annual General Meetings.
