The Life Enrichment Program

Tis is a holistic program based on physical, mental, psycho-social development. This program is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m at our office. The Life Enrichment Program is a free service for those with an acquired brain injury. It also gives the main caregiver 6 hours of well deserved respite for free.

Resource Center

LABIS has a resource library and other information that can be made available upon request to the general public.

Referral Center

LABIS accepts referrals from other sources for services. We will refer people to other services when required. These include, but are not limited to, medical services, services for the handicapped, employment services, and counselling services.

Support Group

LABIS Support Group for Families and Caregivers living with a person with an acquired brain injury.

Meetings held as requested.

Location: LABIS Office, #3, 4620 - 44 Street, Lloydminster SK

"Knowing you are not alone" is extremely important to brain injury survivors and the people close to them. One of the best ways to connect with others during the recovery process is to participate in a support group where they can talk, listen, share, and support each other.

Public Education and Awareness

LABIS provides public education regarding the different types of brain injuries and prevention awareness.

Life Enrichment Program (LEP)

LABIS offers this program to provide leisure, recreational, and social activities which will foster growth for cognitively &/or physically impaired persons who have sustained a brain injury. The program not only enhances the life of the participant, but also offers relief to the caregiver.

Under the guidance of a program co-ordinator and a team of volunteers, the LEP program provides an environment of life experiences and encourages the development of interpersonal relationships.

A typical day might include:

  •  Excercise, both physical and mental
  •  Special guests and luncheons
  •  Reality Orientation
  •  Sharing of news
  •  Demonstrations
  •  Socialization
  •  Recreation
  •  Field trips
  •  Support
  •  Games
  •  Crafts
  •  Music

Fundraising Services

As a non-profit organization that offers free programs and services, it is imperative that we are versatile in our fundraising efforts. For this reason, we try to accommodate every request that comes our way. This has led us into many ventures, including providing bartending and coat check services at various functions in the Lloydminster area. These include, but are not limited to, company parties, family weddings, and other non-profit events that we can assist with. We have developed a Mock Casino Night also, involving 3-5 casino style games, complete with fake money, chips, and prizes as well.

We are always willing to try new things – we are not limited by anything but imagination! LABIS welcomes any invitation to provide volunteers for private or corporate events. We are confident in our ability to meet any and all challenges and contribute to a successful event. In return for these services, we will happily accept donations to LABIS to assist in the provision of our Life Enrichment Program.

LABIS also has a used book store in the building, open Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. This has been an onging fundraiser, and all items range from $0.25 - $3. We accept donations of gently used books as well.
