The Life Enrichment Program

LABIS runs a Life Enrichment Program (LEP) three days a week; Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-4pm. This program enhances participants' lives through interaction, leisure and social activities which will foster growth for cognitively and/or physically impaired persons who have sustained a brain injury. This program not only enhances the life of the participants, but also provides the much needed relief to families and caregivers. This program is FREE OF CHARGE.

The activities provided during the Life Enrichment Program are to promote feelings of self worth, confidence, hope and happiness. This program also teaches positive social skills and develops participants' motor and co-ordination skills. Participants feel at home here; they are accepted and comfortable in a non-threatening environment. LABIS always promotes quality friendships and encourages the participants to learn and stretch their minds.

Under the guidance of a Program Co-ordinator and a team of volunteers, the LEP program provides an environment of life experiences and encourages the development of interpersonal relationships.

A typical day might include:

  •  Excercise, both physical and mental
  •  Special guests and luncheons
  •  Reality Orientation
  •  Sharing of news
  •  Demonstrations
  •  Socialization
  •  Recreation
  •  Field trips
  •  Support
  •  Games
  •  Crafts
  •  Music

A new day of programming has been added. A Walking Program will be offered, FREE OF CHARGE, for Stroke and Brain Injury Individuals. This program will run from 1pm-2:30pm at the Servus Sports Centre right here in Lloydminster. Individuals will be responsible for their own modes of transportation to and from the Servus Sports Centre. Please meet at the Servus Sports Centre. For more information please call the office.

Referral Center

LABIS provides a resource center for helpful information and services. We will accept referrals and make necessary referrals to all participants. These referrals and services could include, but are not limited to, medical services, transportation services, employment services, and counselling services. You can also find many helpful resources on the LABIS website under the "Links" tab.

Support Group

LABIS Support Group for Families and Caregivers living with a person with an acquired brain injury.

Meetings held as requested.

Location: LABIS Office, #3, 4620 - 44 Street, Lloydminster SK

"Knowing you are not alone" is extremely important to brain injury survivors and the people close to them. One of the best ways to connect with others during the recovery process is to participate in a support group where they can talk, listen, share, and support each other.

Fundraising Services

As a non-profit organization, LABIS is responsible for fundraising 75% of the income. Some fundraisers include raffles, steaknight, slo-pitch tournament, golf tournament, and Mock Casino Night which includes 5 casino style games, complete with fake money, chips, and prizes!

We are always willing to try new things – we are not limited by anything but imagination! LABIS welcomes any invitation to provide volunteers for private or corporate events. We are confident in our ability to meet any and all challenges and contribute to a successful event. In return for these services, we will happily accept donations to LABIS to assist in the provision of our Life Enrichment Program.

LABIS also runs the Second Chance Clothing store located at 4920 50th Street. This is an onging fundraiser since 2011. The store carries a variety of gently used clothing and books. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Public Education and Awareness

The only cure for a brain injury is prevention. We believe that by attending the LEP, the participants minimize their risk of a secondary injury, depression and addiction. Our program is always educating the participants, making them more confident individuals which in turn leads them to become active members in their community once again.

LABIS especially promotes awareness during Brain Injury Awareness month in June. Promoting helmet safety, don't drink and drive ads, selling paper helmets, etc. are just a few things that LABIS will do to enhance awareness.

LABIS will help the community and general public gain access to more information and resources available regarding brain injury. Any referrals to and from the organization will be made.
